David (Chair) opened the meeting with a quick review of our recent exhibition, which was judged to have been well received amd surprisingly well attended given the changeable weather.  850 visitors were recorded as having voted for their favourite images!

Mention was also made of the sales of a 2024 Calendar (produced to raise funds for the restoration of the Grade 2 listed Church of St Anne, Bowden Hill, Lacock) in which the following members contributed images: Pete Shaw, David Sage and Danny Wootton.

Members Sue and Amanda then made a presentation about The Art of Still Life.  After a brief overview of the history of the genre in both art and photography, plus consideration of various types of still life done today, the basic requirements for making a still life image were outlined.  Things to think about include keeping the whole image simple and uncluttered; experimenting with layout and camera angles; making both the vertical and horizontal elements appropriate to the scale of the subjects without overwhelming them; and understanding the role light, natural or otherwise, can play in creating mood.  Post-processing options were also discussed.   A few of the images used are below.

The second part of the meeting looked at submissions for the Tell A Story in 3 - 5 images challenge. Subjects covered included the creative, the amusing, documentary commentary and personal achievements!
